What was on the table
The organisation's legacy platform had become central to almost every part of its operating model. It supported customer and sales activity, asset availability, applications, vehicle administration, workshop processes, finance, documentation and management reporting. Years of business rules, exceptions and employee knowledge were embedded in the system, while the business needed to continue operating throughout the replacement. AO therefore had to modernise the technology without losing the operational knowledge, transaction traceability or cross-functional dependencies that the legacy environment had accumulated.
How we approached it
AO approached the programme as an enterprise transformation rather than a standard software installation. The team mapped connected processes, designed the target architecture, configured and extended the new platform, prepared and migrated legacy data, integrated surrounding financial and operational processes, and tested complete workflows with business users. As previously undocumented requirements emerged during realistic testing, AO separated defects, refinements, new requirements and future enhancements so that the core release could continue progressing through a controlled delivery process.
